Hence, one of the main intentions of Zappu is to produce a range of products that doesn’t damage the ecosystem. A material introduced successfully by many companies was tungsten due to its remarkable and robust physical properties. Not only this but tungsten has the advantage of being 71% heavier than lead and is more sensitive which makes it superior to work with. The hardness of lead and similar materials also damages the wires which undermines the various actions of lures. To remedy this inconvenience, companies have tried, some better than others, to protect the tungsten wire by coating it with a protective sheet of plastic. Zappu, instead, went directly to the root of the problem, and it is precisely here that a high level of innovation is introduced to the world of lure fishing for predatory fish. This remarkable Japanese company has created a new and patented material called “SPACE METAL” which is obtained by mixing the tungsten with a polyamide resin. The advantages are obvious. This material does not damage the threads or wires in the least, maintaining the specific gravity of pure tungsten, but it is easier to work with, so it is possible to obtain savings in production costs. But Zappu isn’t only famous for “SPACE METAL”.
Despite this advance, which really is something extraordinary, Zappu directs further attention to the ecological context in the packaging of their Lures, Jig Heads, Hooks, Rubber Jigs, Sinkers and Lure Tuning components. For tungsten weights Zappu has designed reusable packaging, while the cards inserted into the Jig Heads and other accessories are completely biodegradable, as they’re derived from corn. The progress brought about by Zappu concentrates on not only product innovation and quality but also eco requirements. With the long term collaboration from Mr Takuma Hata, well regarded prostaff at Jackall Bros and tackle pioneer, Zappu have recently developed the 'Mustang Head' which is a new Jig Head concept that offers an incredible “stand up” presentation which the fish won’t be able to resist.
