Ever Green Heracles FACT HFAC-70HST First Field Test

Yesterday I went for a few hours out on the lake to test the new Ever Green Heracles FACT HFAC-70HST. The 70HST was the last rod from the FACT Series, which I got to test. I was totally bewildered about the power of this rod. At the first look you can see the higher diameter of the blank which is totally different to the other two FACT casting modells and you already know that this rod has no problems to handle strong fighting fish. But the huge difference to other Jigging Rods is, that the 70HST has a 30 cm long solid tip. This makes the rod much more sensitive and gives you a better control for short precision casts (like for skipping techniques). The transition between the solid tip and the spine of the rod is imperceptible, you have smooth bending curve during the fight.

For my first field I put following setup togehter:

Rod: Ever Green Heracles FACT 70HST
Reel: Daiwa Zillion 7.3 Limited
Line: Ever Green Magic Hard R 12lb
Lure: Ever Green Double Motion 3,6" with LB JikaRig 3/8oz

My résumé after few casts is, that the new Ever Green FACT 70HST is a great rod for medium Jigs or Texas-Rigs up to an 1/2oz. The combination with the Solid Tip gives her a really sensitive perfomance. You can feel everything when your bait hits the bottom, either if there is some weed on it or even the most careful bites. But the spine of the rod is strong enough to make a safe hookseeting and bring the fish out of the cover.

A feature which I really like from the FACT rod series is the new forgrip. Especially while Jigging you can rest your finger on it.

At the first field test I only caught some small and medium perch. It was a great chance to test the sensitive solid tip, but the hardcore test will come next week in Spain at the 3rd PRUEBA SOCIAL Tournament
